"Big girl school"

This week brings with it a very important date....16/04/2015 the date that Elise will be allocated a school. I like thousands of other parents across the country I'm sure, will be waiting with bated breathe for "that email" to come through to reveal what school she will be attending to start her academic future.

Choosing the right primary school for Elise was very important to us. Like any parent we all want what we feel is best for our children. As Elise's birthday is the end of July, she would of only just turned 4. This is something I am struggling a little to accept and come to terms with. I feel like I am being robbed of an extra year with her at home just because of when her birthday is. I have friends who's children are just 5 or 6 weeks younger than her, and because of when their birthday is, they will start the following September. I'm not sure I'm ready to hand over my baby girl to someone 5 days a week for 6 hours a day. These past 4 years have gone in a blink of an eye and I can't believe the tiny little baby I gave birth to almost 4 years ago, is getting ready to start the next chapter in her life. I feel I have done the best I can do and taught her everything I can to be the helpful, kind and clever little girl that she is.

I know she is not the first and certainly won't be the last "little one" to start school shortly after turning 4. I know deep down she will be fine and that she is ready and that it's me who isn't. Everytime we talk about "big girl school" she gets so excited and keeps asking when she starts. She has always been very forward for her age and after a recent parents evening at her nursery, it proves that she is more than ready to handle everything that comes with starting school.

So when we looked around and chose a school, we wanted one that was understanding of her age and our concerns. Selecting the right school to us is very important because it's what starts her off in life. After researching and reading endless ofstead reports we finally found the ideal school, and they couldn't of been more helpful and understanding. The school was perfect. So all we can do now is hope and pray that Thursday brings the news that we hope for, and she is allocated a place at our chosen school.

If your in the same boat as us this Thursday, I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you all. Let me know your thoughts and comments.

Thanks for reading
